Serious Thinking.
Playful Tools.
Some conversations need more than an agenda and a meeting room.
When people need to explore a complex challenge, hear different perspectives or find a way forward together, the right facilitation can make all the difference.
As The LSP Coach, I create and facilitate experiences that help people think, contribute and connect. LEGO® Serious Play® is one of the approaches I use to make ideas tangible, unlock creativity and create conversations that might not otherwise happen.
The bricks are playful. The thinking is serious.
The conversations lead to outcomes that matter.

Why great facilitation matters
Getting people into a room doesn’t guarantee a useful conversation.
Some voices may dominate. Others may hold back. Discussions can drift, familiar ideas can take over, and a group can spend hours talking without getting any closer to a meaningful outcome.
A facilitator creates the conditions for something different.
My role is to bring structure, focus and neutrality to the conversation, while helping everyone in the room participate and contribute.
Sometimes that means asking the right question. Sometimes it means creating space for reflection. Sometimes it means challenging the group to look at something from a different perspective.
And sometimes, it means putting LEGO® bricks on the table.
Great facilitation isn’t about controlling the conversation. It’s about helping the right conversation happen.
What is LEGO® Serious Play®?
LEGO® Serious Play® is a facilitated method that uses building, metaphor and storytelling to help people explore ideas, challenges and possibilities.
Instead of relying solely on conversation, participants build models that represent their thoughts and perspectives. These models become the starting point for rich conversation, deep reflection, and genuine alignment.
The method is backed by research in learning, psychology, and organisational development. It works because it engages the head, hands, and heart all at once.
It’s not about building the best model. It’s about using the model to think, communicate and explore.
Why use LEGO® Serious Play®?
Traditional conversations can be dominated by the quickest, loudest or most influential voices. With LEGO® Serious Play®, everyone responds to the challenge by building and sharing their perspective. This helps participants:
Think through their hands
Building with our hands can encourage us to think differently. As ideas take shape, we can experiment, make unexpected connections and unlock perspectives that may not emerge through conversation alone.
Explore alternative perspectives
A model can create a useful degree of distance from the issue being explored. By using metaphor, people can step back, look at a challenge from a different perspective and sometimes talk more openly about things that might otherwise be difficult to express.
Participate equally
Not everyone thinks, speaks or contributes in the same way. LEGO® Serious Play® gives everyone time to think, something to build and an opportunity to share, helping more voices become part of the conversation.
Create a shared understanding
As individual perspectives are shared and explored, people begin to see the challenge through each other’s eyes. This can create greater understanding, reveal connections and help a group move towards a more shared view of what matters.
Make complexity visible
Some challenges are difficult to explain because the relationships, assumptions and dependencies involved are hard to see. Building models can make those ideas tangible, giving the group something they can examine, question and explore together.
What could we explore together?
Not every challenge arrives with a neat question attached.
Sometimes there’s a team that isn’t quite working as you’d hoped. A strategy that needs bringing to life. A change that people are struggling to make sense of. A difficult conversation that keeps being postponed. Or simply a feeling that there must be a better way to explore this.
LEGO® Serious Play® changes the conversation by giving ideas, perspectives and challenges a physical form.
We can build ideas, tell stories, explore perspectives and make connections visible. We can take something that feels abstract or difficult and put it on the table, where we can look at it together.
So, what would you like to explore?
Facilitation with The LSP Coach
LEGO® Serious Play® is a powerful method, but the bricks alone don’t create a meaningful experience.
The value comes from the questions we ask, the space we create and the conversations that follow.
As your facilitator, I’ll work with you to understand what you’re trying to achieve and create an experience that helps your group get there.
I’ll bring my experience in facilitation, Agile, coaching and LEGO® Serious Play® to the session, while remaining focused on the people in the room and what emerges from the conversation.
The bricks are the tool.
The facilitation is what brings the experience to life.
Designed around what matters
No two teams, organisations or challenges are exactly the same, that’s why I don’t believe in simply pulling a workshop off the shelf and hoping it fits.
Before I facilitate any session I explore the context, the people involved and what is hoped to be achieved. From there, I can shape the facilitation around the conversation that needs to happen.
That might mean a focused LEGO® Serious Play® session. It might mean combining LEGO® Serious Play® with other facilitation techniques. Or, for a bigger challenge, we might need to step back and design the entire experience from the ground up.
Don’t force the challenge into the method.
Find the method that helps the challenge
